At the Erslbauer in Geistthal, a stable and parts of the house have been converted into a museum of local history and musical instruments. Old tools from the farming world as well as 350 old musical instruments are waiting to be discovered. This museum has existed since 2000.

A farm as a museum
There are many rarities to admire in the stable building at the Erslbauer farm. An old wood-turning lathe from 1904 with foot operation, a two-man power saw with a 1.10 m long sword and old carpentry utensils are some of the special ones.

In five rooms of the farmhouse you will find a total of 350 instruments, some of which are over 200 years old. A boxwood clarinet with only five square keys, bass fiddles in different variations, harmonicas and schrammels and much much more will delight music lovers here. During a guided tour, music enthusiasts also have the opportunity to play instruments and put their skills to the test.

The musician Jakob Moises from the Erslbauer.
As a musician, you have a lot to talk about. The best example of this is Jakob Moises from Western Styria, who has played with a total of 130 different groups since the late 1950s. As a multi-instrumentalist, he was on stage with Slavko Avsenik, for example. He supported the legendary Kern Buam at their concerts in the former GDR, which were considered a sensation in the early 80s. "The atmosphere there was incredible," Moises remembers.
