3,250m ABOVE SEA LEVEL...
Tux-Finkenberg guarantees “ice cool action” all year round: The Hintertux Glacier, Austria’s only all year skiing resort, is a mountain full of frozen adventure worlds. You can enjoy the dream of summer skiing to the full in the mountain sun on up to 18 km of glacier slopes and at an altitude of 3,250 m. Just a couple of minutes’ walk away from the “Gefrorene Wand” top station is the entrance to the mystical depths of Nature’s Ice Palace. Experience fairy-tale ice formations created by nature itself. The next cave wonder is to be found at the foot of the glacier tongue. Here is the largest accessible natural cave in the Central Alps, the Spannagelhöhle cave. However, the best thing about the Hintertux Glacier is: After arriving at the underground car park of the valley station, you can easily reach the most amazing viewing platform, the panorama terrace at 3,250 metres above sea level on the Hintertux Glacier, without encountering any barriers at all, which means that pushchairs, wheelchairs etc. have unimpeded access.
WE KNOW WHERE THE FUN IS!
The right offer for both parents and children is a crucial factor that goes to make a successful family holiday experience. The ultimate children’s programme created by the family specialists in Tux-Finkenberg is simply amazing, and the great outdoors is our playground. Experience the thrill of canyoning on a tour through the Zemmschlucht canyon, the pride of building a tree house or the exhilaration of a Kneipp footbath in the footprints of the Tux Giant that have been left behind in the Tuxbach brook. The new TUX Welten are also located along the river with adventure trail which feature lots of play stations that help to bring kids closer to nature. The “Erlebnisfreibad Finkenberg” Outdoor Water Park guarantees cool refreshment on hot days. The Family Flaming Torch Hike to the “Riesenfeuerschlange” (Giant Fire Snake) is great fun for adventurers of all ages. If weather conditions aren’t so fair, there’s absolutely no reason to become gloomy, because a 1,000 m² large indoor games hall – the Playarena in Tux-Vorderlanersbach – offers everything that a child’s heart could possibly desire: High-rope course, climbing wall, go-kart track, giant slides, trampoline park, a mega soft play area and lots more. An absolute highlight that shouldn’t be missed is most certainly the legendary snowball fight at the Gletscherflohpark on the Hintertux Glacier, the highest playground in Europe – even in the middle of summer! A totally unique experience!
TRADITIONAL AND MODERN UNDER ONE ROOF!
Tradition is the key to success in Tux-Finkenberg. Hardly a summer week goes by without a traditional festival or a music festival. Schmankerl Festivals are convivial gatherings held at the Finkenberg village square, where a variety of regional delicacies are offered: delicious Zillertal valley farm cuisine for connoisseurs, with dishes ranging from Melchermuas to Kasspatzln and Tyrolean Gröstl. Participants are given the opportunity to demonstrate their prowess at the 8th Zillertaler Fensterlmeisterschaft (tradition of climbing through one’s sweetheart’s window) and at the 11th Holzhackmeisterschaft (Wood Chopping Championship) in Tux-Lanersbach. “It’s time for the Schürzenjäger” on the 05nd of August at the Open Air in Finkenberg, where the Schürzenjäger band will once again treat their fans to some real “Alpenrock”. The end of summer in the Tuxertal valley is traditionally celebrated by the Sheep and Haflinger horse alp transhumance in Finkenberg (09.09.), as well as the 29th Hintertux Oktoberfest with alp transhumance from the Bichlalm in Hintertux (29.-30.09.). The return of the magnificently adorned alpine-bred livestock is celebrated in the valley in typical Zillertal tradition.
