Welcome to the region of Längsee-Hochosterwitz
Some of the most beautiful places in Carinthia await the visitor in the tourist community of St. Georgen at Längsee. Around the romantic natural bathing lake, the Längsee, there are numerous places to discover. The historical benedictine monastery St. Georgen with the impressive monastery gardens, the very well preserved renaissance castle Hochosterwitz with armoury, collections of weapons and pictures and the castle Taggenbrunn with the festival Taggenbrunn.
Idyllically embedded between richly forested mountains, at an altitude of 560 metres above sea level, lies the longitudinal lake, which is up to 27 degrees warm, with a lido, a monastery bath and the nudist bath.
St. Georgen/Längsee not only boasts one of the most beautiful landscapes in Carinthia, but is also rich in cultural assets such as castles, palaces, churches, chapels, old farms, culturally and historically valuable buildings, natural monuments, wayside shrines and wayside crosses. These sights are easy to hike and therefore ideal for families.
For guests who enjoy golf, we have the 18-hole golf course Jacques Lemans Golf Club St. Veit/Längsee in the immediate vicinity of the lake.
Due to the favourable location and the pleasant mild climate, the wine also thrives excellently. Already in the 12th century the region was used for winegrowing. In the meantime, successful winegrowers are once again engaged in the cultivation of wine, which is Carinthia's largest winegrowing region in terms of area.
Tradition and culinary delights are particularly important here. The hosts spoil their guests with regional delicacies from Carinthian cuisine, lovingly prepared with regional products, often from their own garden. They serve juices, wine and beer from the region. As an aperitif, one of the fine brandies is also served.
