The new village centre of Steinbach showcases two important artists who were closely connected to Steinbach at Lake Attersee in its foyer.

The „holiday composer“ Gustav Mahler is presented with a mosaic adapted from a design by Prof. Christian Ludwig Attersee. Mahler spent the summers from 1893 to 1896 at the hotel-restaurant Föttinger in Seefeld at Lake Attersee. There, he had a house built for composing, where many of his opuses as well as parts of his symphonies, such as the 2nd and 3rd symphony, were created.

Another well-known inhabitant of Steinbach was the pianist Friedrich Gulda, who lived in Steinbach at Lake Attersee for many years and found his eternal peace at the Steinbach cemetery. In the cabinet, you can see Gulda's clavinova and original notes, as well as portraits of the musician.

During the opening hours of the official building, you can visit this wonderful piece of art in the public room. Combine your visit and also attend Gustav Mahler's composing house
in Seefeld or the Parish church of Steinbach. Learn more about the artists on the artist trail in Weißenbach at Lake Attersee.

The mosaic can be visited during the opening hours of the official township building and the office hours of the tourism office.
