Daily from 8:30 - 15:00 OPEN!

We look forward to your visit to the largest ice cave on our planet earth. Experience a unique natural spectacle of rock and ice!

Duration of the guided tour: approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes. You should allow 3 - 4 hours for the entire visit.

Preparation for the visit
Discounted online tickets with advance booking
guarantees access without waiting time! Available at www.eisriesenwelt.at.
Sturdy shoes and warm clothing are recommended. The temperature is usually below zero degrees, even in summer. At the cave entrance, visitors are equipped with pit lamps. Inside, magnesium light provides effective illumination of the icy sculptures. Incidentally, the cave itself is a protected monument and may only be entered with authorised guides.

Body requirements
During the visit to the cave, a total of 134 metres of altitude have to be climbed. This is roughly equivalent to walking through the stairwell of a large high-rise building. Here, too, it is up to each visitor to decide whether he or she is up to the effort involved. Without a doubt, however, the beauty of the ice figures and the impressive dimensions of the cave compensate for any effort! The pace of the tour is adapted to the respective visitor structure. However, people with severe walking difficulties or cardiovascular disease are advised not to visit the cave.

Dogs
Of course, the Eisriesenwelt is also open to animals. However, a visit is not really recommended for them because of the many stairs in the cave.

Children
It is up to the parents to decide whether or not they trust their children with the relatively long walk through the cold cave. Experience has shown that small children up to the age of 3-4 are often overtaxed. In any case, you should make sure that your children have enough warm clothing. Don't forget a hat and gloves.

Photo and film
The ban on photography and filming in the cave is not intended to boost the postcard business, but solely for organisational purposes and to preserve the natural beauty of the cave visit.

Good weather/bad weather
A visit to the ice giants is especially recommended on nice and hot days. Especially then, the panoramic view from the entrance far beyond the Salzach Valley is impressive and the alternation between light and darkness is also particularly appealing in fine weather.
