Whether the park of Schönbrunn Palace, the palace gardens of the Belvedere or the Augarten - the mixture of baroque splendour and the beauty of nature offer variety for a stroll through the old town and unforgettable impressions!

*¶ Schönbrunn Palace Park ¶

Stroll through long avenues between artistically cut hedges, past statues, fountains and magnificent flower beds - for example to the Palm House from 1882, the largest in Europe, to the maze, the Japanese Garden or up the hill to the Gloriette, where you can enjoy the best view in a Viennese café. In the former imperial private gardens next to the palace you will encounter baroque garden splendour, and in the desert house from 1904 a unique collection of cacti. The colourful hustle and bustle of exotic and native animals can be experienced in the oldest zoo in the world. Marvel at the variety of species and their habitats in the Schönbrunn Zoo.

Belvedere Palace Park

Around 1700, Prince Eugene of Savoy had this baroque garden, which today is one of the most important in Europe (all year round, free admission), laid out. From March to August you can experience the blooming of 4,000 alpine plant species in the Upper Belvedere - in the oldest alpine garden in the world, founded 200 years ago by Archduke Johann. In the nearby Botanical Garden you will find native and exotic plants.

Augarten

The Augarten is a 52.2 ha public park with the oldest baroque gardens in Vienna and is located in the second district of Vienna. The French-style gardens offer a well-kept parterre garden with lavish flower landscapes as well as a spacious area with shady avenues of chestnut, armour, lime trees, ash trees and maple trees. However, as in almost all federal gardens in Vienna, access is not possible at night because the five park gates are closed (from dusk until early morning - the seasonal times are displayed on metal signs at the gates). The Augarten is also home to various institutions such as the Vienna Boys' Choir in the Augartenpalais, the Augarten Porcelain Manufactory, Augarten Contemporary and the Filmarchiv Austria.
