Winter sun on the Saualm

At the Steinerhütte car park, head northeast and follow the signs towards Großer Sauofen. On a forest path, there is a gentle ascent upwards until you cross a clearing. The ascent continues through the forest until you finally pass the tree line. Here, the view opens into the valley and over the Central Carinthian mountain landscape. Now follows the last, somewhat steeper ascent to Großer Sauofen. At the summit cross, you can take a well-deserved break before returning along the same route to Steinerhütte.

Snowshoes, suitable winter hiking clothing, drinking supply.
