Make sure the route you choose matches your experience and fitness level. Check the weather forecast in advance. Weather in the mountains can change surprisingly quickly. Therefore, always start out properly equipped (e.g. rain protection).

Check whether the inns you want to visit along the way are open. Inform someone about your chosen route and your planned return time before you set off.

From Vienna: A2 South motorway through Pittental to the Edlitz-Aspang exit, then continue on the Wechselbundesstraße B54 towards Aspang, then continue on B54 to Mönichkirchen.

From Graz: On the A2 South motorway take the Zöbern exit towards Aspang - to Mönichkirchen via B54, or also via Pinggau exit and B54 Wechselbundesstraße.
