An open-pit gold mine exploited by the ancient Romans between the 2nd and 1st centuries BC, the area today boasts a landscape of mysterious allure, with a complex network of trails through lush valleys and pebble dunes up to 30 meters high. It is crisscrossed by three cycling paths, each approximately 10 km long, mostly flat or with moderately challenging gradients, suitable for mountain biking. These well-marked routes offer hiking opportunities, particularly recommended in spring and autumn. The cycling path is partly on dirt roads and partly on concrete; short detours allow you to discover numerous erratic boulders, often featuring cup-marked carvings, such as the mysterious Roc Malegn. After 1.5 km, you reach the Pista ciclabile delle Vecchie Cave, another mountain bike trail within the reserve. The route presents no difficulties, the difference in altitude is modest and the surface is suitable for mountain bikes.
