Occitan Routes: Stage 9 Borgata Chiappera - Borgata Chialvetta

Chiappera represents the turning point of the itinerary. You leave behind the quartz group of Rocca Castello-Provenzale, the vertiginous jump of Stroppia Waterfalls and take the path on the right, just beyond the cemetery, a hillside path that runs along the artificial Saretto lake, reaches the Sources of the Maira and ascends through the thick larch wood towards Colle Ciarbonet (2206 m). The effort is largely paid off by the view from the grassy cleft. The descent into the valley of Unerzio follows an ancient military road that, with ample hairpin turns among the pastures reaches the beautiful grange of Mezzagliera,  which have been the object of recent restructuring, and further downhill the characteristic hamlets of Viviere, Pratorotondo and Chialvetta, linked by an ancient path known as "la Scurcio", equipped with thematic panels and pleasant to hike.
