Saar-Hunsrück-Steig - 4th stage: Britten – Bergen – Losheim Reservoir

From Britten, the path first leads uphill past seemingly endless mountain meadows. Once at the top, wide views impress. After crossing the B 268, it goes down through meadowland into the idyllic Pansbach Valley. Along narrow paths, it continues along the Pansbach stream to Girtenmühle and the small village of Bergen.

After a stop at the rest area of the pond in Bergen, the path leads into the next valley of the romantic Rotenbach. There, the path for the most part follows a narrow trail directly along the creek. We then cross a ridge and subsequently have a wide view over large parts of the Saarland. The trail then winds along fern meadows, forest ponds, an abandoned quarry, and through beech forests into the valley of the Metzerbach. Over curved paths, mostly along the creek, the path leads in the direction of the Losheim Reservoir. There we first encounter a beautiful Kneipp facility with a barefoot path and approach the shore of the Losheim Lake via a very varied stretch, briefly leaving the forest to then reach the "Park of the Four Seasons" again by the lake. The stage ends at the tourist info directly on the lake.

The Saar-Hunsrück-Steig is a nature-friendly path that runs 70% over soft forest floor, grassy paths, or along stream courses. However, this special quality can lead to problems after longer rainy periods and make parts of the path difficult to walk. Therefore, sturdy footwear is highly recommended.
