Ludwig Geist (1776 - 1854), son of a basket maker from Bad Berka, was servant and secretary to Goethe from 1795 to 1804, then court auditor at the grand ducal court in Weimar, and was already drawing attention to the healing spring (today's Goethe Fountain) in 1807.
After starting at the Goethe Fountain, we walk along the Goetheallee through the spa park. At the end of the Goetheallee, we turn right and walk parallel to Hetschburger Street. At the end of the path, we cross Park Street and use the paved path to the left of the Coudray House to the forest. Walk up the staircase and follow the path to the street Am Adelsberg. We cross the street and keep slightly left until we meet the hiking trail parallel to the road to Hetschburg. Here runs the Ludwig-Geist-Path on the Thuringian Three Towers Trail until above Hetschburg. Here we turn right and the path now goes uphill. At the summit, we reach Adelsberg with the Paulinen Tower and the Paulinen Tower lodge. Behind the Paulinen Tower lodge we turn left onto the driveway and after about 300 m turn right and follow the path downhill. We cross the forest road to the Paulinen Tower and follow the path until we meet a meadow at the end of the forest. Here we turn right and follow the path to the Paulinenhütte. From here, the path goes downhill again to the Coudray House. Using the way parallel to Hetschburger Street and the Goetheallee we reach the destination.
