Over a length of about 1.5 kilometers, the Schinderbach cuts through the rock ridges of the Imst mid-mountain terraces starting from the mystical Blue Grotto. Wooden walkways, rock steps, and small rock tunnels constantly offer new insights into the wonder that nature has created in the Rosengarten Gorge. The entrance to the gorge is also impressive, with houses partly built into the rocks. The gorge is accessible from May to October and sturdy footwear is required for the hike.
The entrance to the Rosengarten Gorge is located at the Johanneskirche directly in the center of Imst. Behind the church starts the rather short hike on a specially created path through the gorge and leads about 2 kilometers and 350 meters of elevation to the other end of the gorge. There is the Blue Grotto, a cave created by mining with two waterfalls, where silver-bearing galena was already mined in Roman times. In Hoch-Imst the route passes the Gasthaus Sonneck, over the Neureit meadows and some switchbacks to the Wetterkreuz viewpoint. Afterwards the path leads down to the edge of the Rosengarten Gorge and down into the valley back to the Johanneskirche.
