Our district of Reichenbach lies directly on the historical border between Upper Lusatia and Mark Meissen and has therefore always been a suitable place for trade between the regions. The lush meadows along the Pulsnitz and Haselbach rivers were ideal for sheep farming and so once a year shepherds and traders came together at
to buy wool and other sheep products here at the crossing of the Pulsnitz.
On the 3rd Sunday in September every year, the shepherd and wool market is still held today as a large folk festival with direct marketers from regional agriculture and many guests from near and far.
