Together with Helsinki, Lyon has been chosen as the 2019 'European Capital of Smart Tourism'. An award for special achievements in sustainability, accessibility, digitalisation and culture.

Lyon is the capital of the Rhône-Alpes region and is known for its historic centre, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Its picturesque streets, its Renaissance houses, its cathedral, its traboules and its courtyards have everything to delight walkers and architecture lovers. The streets of Saint-Jean, Juiverie or Boeuf are also worth visiting.

In 2024, the Stade de Lyon will host some of the matches for The Olympic and Paralympic Games in men's and women's football!

The peninsula, located between the Rhône and the Saône, invites tourists to go shopping. The shopping streets are lined with boutiques and during the walk you can discover numerous beautiful squares such as Terreaux, Bellecour, Jacobins or the square Louis Pradel.

To relax, there is no better place than the Park Tête d'Or, with green spaces, a lake and with a zoo.

*The city also offers a wide choice in the field of museums.
the Museum of Fine Arts
the Museum of Modern Art
the Museum of Fabrics
the Museum of Arts and Crafts
the Museum of the Hospices Civils
the International Museum of the Marionette
and many others

The Festival of Lights, which takes place in December, is a magical and unforgettable event. When it gets dark, the bridges, the monuments and the buildings of the city light up. A magnificent and not to be missed sight!
